In situ luminescence dating on Mars

Dating of Martian sediments is of importance for very similar reasons to those on Earth – to provide chronological information on climate change.

We carry out research towards developing dose measurement protocols for martian analogue materials, understanding the response of martian materials to charged particle irradiation, and modelling of annual dose rate on Mars.

Alongside, we are developing an Elegant Breadboard Model for in-situ sediment dating on Mars. This project is externally funded by the European Space Agency, and is executed in collaboration our sub contractors, cosine Research (NL) and DTU Space.
